PUBLIC EDUCATION
The Saskatoon Sexual Assault & Information Centre continues to be in the forefront of public education and awareness of sexual violence in our community. Public Education focuses on increasing awareness of sexual assault, changing attitudes and laws that condone this violence, with an eventual goal of eliminating sexual assault.
The Centre provides on-going public education sessions to Medical Students, Nursing Students, a variety of University of Saskatchewan classes, University of Regina classes, Metis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan, SIAST Kelsey students, Victim Services Volunteers, Women's CTR, United Way, Youth Programs and Conferences, Teen Wellness Youth Centre, Elementary and High School students, just to mention a few.
"I'M THE BOSS OF ME" is our Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program, available only in SASKATOON. It includes lesson plans for teachers of GRADE FOUR children, and a puppet show for classroom presentations. The puppet show is offered between January and April each year (based on funding), and utilizes volunteer University Students. For more information, to book shows in Saskatoon, or volunteer opportunities with this program, please call Heather at 244-2294.
To book a public education session, interested groups and individuals are invited to call SSAIC from 9 AM to 5 PM (244-2294). Honoraria are gratefully accepted. For presentations that require out of town travel, we request mileage, and when the presentation requires extended time, we will also request honoraria, meals and lodging, if necessary.
